Light in Gatherings
How presence shapes a room before the first frame is made.
Gatherings
These stories centre on the religious and social events celebrated by the Scottish diaspora throughout the year. They highlight the coming together of different parts of the community from region-specific celebrations to the big festivals such as Diwali, Eid, Good Friday and Guru Nanak’s birthday (Nagar Kirtan).
Portraits
The portraits are intimate and fun images of the people who make-up the South Asian Diaspora of Scotland. Many share their stories, words of advice and experiences of Scotland becoming their home. You might spot a few famous faces within!
Monumental Connections
The Broon Scots Project includes stories of monuments and places in Scotland linked to the South Asian subcontinent. These are legacies of colonialism but also the practices of the diaspora forming roots within this new landscape.

How presence shapes a room before the first frame is made.

A gaze held long enough to become a story.

Scale, silence, and the space between stone and skin.

Tables, laughter, and the soft edges of memory.

When many faces become one atmosphere.

The frame that arrives when no one is performing.
